The Cleo & Fancy Legacy Fund
In honor of the dogs who taught us patience, resilience, and unconditional love.
Cleo and Fancy weren’t just dogs—they were survivors, teachers, and the heart of what it means to be a boridoggie. Rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico by our beloved Nani, Daphne, they clung to each other through neglect, fear, and even Hurricane Maria, which left them homeless again.

As volunteers we were able to foster both. Fancy warmed up quickly, but Cleo hid for months. Then, one day, she picked up a ball. That tiny moment marked the start of her healing.

Over a year, they bloomed into happy, trusting dogs. We adopted them, and for ten years they filled our lives with joy. Last October, Cleo passed, and last week Fancy followed—finally together again.

To honor them, we’ve created The Cleo & Fancy Legacy Fund, helping other large boridoggies get off the island and into U.S. foster homes. Big dogs are often overlooked, spending years waiting without a single application. In foster care, they learn to trust, adapt, and thrive—making adoption possible.

It costs about $800 just to fly one large dog, not counting vetting and rehab. But the chance to transform a life—just like Cleo and Fancy’s—is priceless.
Help us honor our girls
